A tragic case has emerged in Pune, where an IIT Bangalore graduate has confessed to killing his 3-year-old son, allegedly driven by suspicions about his wife’s character.

The accused, Madhav Teketi, was an engineer in a multinational firm and resided with his wife, Swaroopa Teketi, who was also an engineer, and son, Himmat, in Chandannagar, said Pune Police. The couple used to have frequent fights, which could have led to the horrific crime, officials said.

Child Reported Missing, Father’s Suspicious Behavior Raises Alarm

The matter surfaced on Thursday after Swaroopa Teketi complained at the Chandannagar Police Station that her son had been missing since about 12:30 p.m. when he was with his father.

A case under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was then registered by the police and they initiated an inquiry.

CCTV evidence at the residential complex of the couple presented a crucial clue—Madhav was found to have exited the compound along with his son but came back by himself. This brought his role under grave suspicion.

Police Investigation Uncovers Shocker Details

Police in their ongoing probe found that Madhav had bought a blade and a knife from a local shop prior to the occurrence.

Senior Police Inspector Sima Dhakane of Chandannagar Police Station said that during the first interrogation, Madhav was drunk and tried to mislead the investigators.

“When police interrogated the accused, he was drunk and was misleading the police,” said Dhakane.

Police tried to divert the investigation despite his attempts. Technical analysis and relentless interrogation ultimately made him confess.

Madhav Teketi Booked Under Strict Charges

After pleading guilty, police booked Madhav under Sections 103(1) and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The authorities are further investigating to reveal the complete details of the crime.

This tragic case has left the community shocked as it exposes the ruined fate of domestic conflicts.
