On October 10, several private and public sector banks across India will be closed in observance of Maha Saptami, an important day during Durga Puja. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced a bank holiday in specific states, marking this occasion as part of the Durga Puja/Dussehra festivities.

Banks to Remain Shut in Select States

Banks in states like Tripura, Assam, Nagaland, and West Bengal will remain closed on this day to celebrate Durga Puja. However, in other parts of the country, banks will operate as usual. Maha Saptami is the seventh day of Durga Puja, marking the beginning of the grand worship, known as Maha Puja. According to Hindu mythology, this day signifies the start of Goddess Durga’s battle with the demon king Mahishasura.
