Who was Darshan Singh Sahsi?
Darshan Singh Sahsi was 68-year-old and a Punjabi-Canadian industrialist. His organization is well known across the world for its textile recycling business. He was from Rajgarh village in Ludhiana district, Punjab. He emigrated to Canada in 1991, where he started taking up small jobs initially before buying shares in a failed textile recycling facility.

Through his hard work, honesty, and determination, he turned it into Canam International, a highly regarded company with operations in more than 40 nations. His company specializes in recycling and reusing textiles, promoting a circular textile economy. According to Canam’s website, it processes nearly half a million pounds of textiles daily, contributing to environmental conservation. Sahsi’s business also extended to India, particularly through operations at Gujarat’s Kandla Port. Many of his company’s employees were of Punjabi origin, reflecting his close connection to the community.

Apart from his commercial success, Sahsi was popularly known for his generosity and kindness. He actively contributed to social and philanthropic causes and was recognized as one who assisted fellow workers and immigrants. Darshan Singh Sahsi Shot Incident
According to the Abbotsford Police, the shooting took place around 9:22 a.m. in the 31300 block of Ridgeview Drive. Preliminary investigations reveal that the shooter was already waiting near Sahsi’s home inside a car. The moment Sahsi sat in his vehicle, the gunman opened fire several times and quickly fled the scene.
When police and emergency services reached the scene, Sahsi was found critically wounded. Even after efforts to save him, he was confirmed dead at the site. In precautionary measures, three schools near the location were put under lockdown, but no students were injured. The authorities are now probing the case as a targeted hit.

Within days of the killing, Goldy Dhillon, a Bishnoi gang member, posted on social media that he had committed the murder.
