The 28-year-old YouTuber and law student, a strong CPI(M) supporter, was found dead in his rented house, leaving fans and politicians stunned.
Who Was Abu Areekode?
Abu Areekode was a prominent and lively voice in Kerala’s social media landscape. A native of Poongudi, he was a third-year LLB student at Markaz Law College in Kozhikode. Beyond his studies, he was a dedicated social media campaigner for the CPI(M) and its youth wings. A former DYFI Areekode regional president, he was also active in the party’s Kariyaparamba branch. With a large online audience under the name “Abu Areekode,” his untimely death has left a major void in his political and social communities.

Abu Areekode was found dead at his residence on the morning of Saturday, November 8, 2025. The police have filed a case of unnatural death after confirming that he was discovered hanging. Although the inquiry is still under progress, the main suspicion is that agents of an online lending app company are harassing users severely. It is alleged that he was caught in a vicious “debt trap,” and the relentless pressure and threats from recovery agents may have driven him to take the extreme step. Friends stated they were shattered and clueless, as he had seemed fine just the night before.

A Final Dinner and a Tragic Morning
According to reports, Abu Areekode had dinner with his friends at the rented house on Friday night and subsequently went to sleep. As it was a second Saturday, a holiday, most of his housemates had left to visit their families the next morning. It was during this time that volunteers from a Pain and Palliative Care unit, passing by the house, saw him hanging from the window and raised an alarm, leading to the tragic discovery.
