Popular social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, widely known as Orry, has come under the scanner of Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell in connection with an alleged drug syndicate linked to the Dawood Ibrahim gang. The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Police has summoned him to join the investigation.
Orry Questioned by Mumbai Police
Orry’s name came first during the investigation following the questioning of Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh, a drug trafficker who was deported from UAE recently. Shaikh had told the investigators about expensive rave parties that several Bollywood celebrities, politicians, and high-profile persons attended.
Reportedly, these parties, held in Mumbai and Dubai, were organised by Shaikh, who is a close aide of the fugitive drug lord Salim Dola, a prominent member of Dawood Ibrahim’s criminal network.
Who Joined the Lavish Dubai-Mumbai Parties?
As per report, ANC had told a metropolitan magistrate court in Mumbai on November 13, that Shaikh had claimed to host lavish parties for celebrities in Dubai and Mumbai. According to Shaikh, Orry, son of late sister of Dawood Ibrahim, Haseena Parkar, actors Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor and her brother Siddharth Kapoor, filmmakers Abbas-Mustan, rapper Loka and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique among others were in the party. the ANC asked for the remand application.
The ANC has clarified that these claims are yet to be independently verified, as the investigation is still in its preliminary stages. An ANC officer told that they will question Orry about the claims made by Shaikh and then they will decide whether to question other celebrities and political leaders mentioned by Shaikh after they question Orry.
Orry’s representative appeared before the ANC on Thursday and informed the police that Orry was out of town and would be able to participate in the probe after November 25, a police official informed the sources.
Background of the Investigation Orry Drug Case
The case dates back to August 2022 when the Ghatkopar ANC along with the crime branch arrested Mohammad Shahrukh Mohammad Shafi Shaikh, a resident of Worli, from Nagpada and recovered MD worth ₹1.19 lakh. Thereafter, several other alleged drug traffickers were arrested.
A big breakthrough came in March 2024 when the police busted a mephedrone-manufacturing unit on a farm in Sangli district. The facility was reportedly managed by wanted drug trafficker Salim Dola and his son Tahe, who was deported from the UAE and taken into Mumbai Police custody in June this year. Another relative, Mustaffa Mohammad Khubbawala, was deported the following month. Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh was arrested on November 5 after deportation from the UAE and, according to an earlier report, the suspect reportedly confessed to setting up multiple units for manufacturing drugs and operating a distribution network that sold drugs such as cocaine, MDMA (Ecstasy) tablets, hashish, charas, and mephedrone.
