An 18-year-old Indian student from Middlesex University Dubai tragically died during Diwali celebrations in the city. Vaishnav Krishnakumar collapsed suddenly and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Dubai Police confirmed that the cause of death was cardiac arrest. The Dubai Police Forensic Department has opened an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities are arranging to repatriate Vaishnav’s body to Kerala for the last rites. According to his family, the student had no known history of heart problems.
Who Was Vaishnav Krishnakumar?
Vaishnav Krishnakumar was from Chennithala in Alappuzha, Kerala. His parents, VG Krishnakumar and Vidhu Krishnakumar, have lived in Dubai for more than 20 years. Vaishnav and his younger sister, Vrishti, were born and raised in the UAE.
Relatives remember the family’s last visit to Kerala two years ago for a housewarming ceremony. “They rarely visited Chennithala. The last time they came here was two years ago. Vaishnav and his sister were born and brought up in Dubai. He was a smart and intelligent boy with most of his friends there,” a family member told PTI.
Academic and Leadership Achievements
Vaishnav was in his first year of BBA in Marketing at Middlesex University Dubai. He was also an alumnus of GEMS Our Own Indian School.
He held a UAE Golden Visa, a special long-term residence visa allowing foreigners to live, work, and study in the UAE without needing a local sponsor.
Vaishnav was actively involved in the Model United Nations (MUN) community. He served as President and previously Vice President of the MUN Club. He chaired multiple MUN committees and won awards for Best Delegate and Best Chair.
Internships and Career Prospects
In addition to academics, Vaishnav gained professional experience through internships at Kendal and Uniplus in Dubai. Friends and peers recall him as ambitious, talented, and deeply committed to his studies and extracurricular activities.
His untimely death has shocked both the local and Indian communities in the UAE. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to confirm all details.
