The Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections in 2025 have become special for Rajasthan. The contest is tough between Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the Congress student wing, National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).

This year, NSUI has fielded Joslyn Nandita Chaudhary from Jodhpur as the presidential candidate, while Rahul Jhansla from Alwar is contesting for vice-president.

What is the Controversy Over Joslyn’s Name?

Joslyn’s candidature has sparked controversy after her Class 12 marksheet went viral on social media. The document shows her name as Jeetu Chaudhary. According to sources, Joslin studied at Delhi Public School (DPS), Jaipur. Her marksheet also lists her mother’s name as Baby Devi.

Allegations are circulating that Joslin converted to Christianity and changed her name from Jeetu Chaudhary to Joslyn Nandita Chaudhary.

Controversy Over Joslins Name

However, no solid evidence has been presented to prove the claims of religious conversion. Joslyn’s Class 10 and Class 12 certificates still carry the name Jeetu Chaudhary. This issue has allowed ABVP to question her candidacy, raising doubts over her nomination.

Ticket Distribution Sparks Anger in NSUI

The ticket distribution by NSUI has fueled internal conflict. Leaders like Umanshi Lamba and Gopal Chaudhary, who were strong contenders for the president’s post, were ignored. Instead, Joslin received the ticket, which angered several party workers.

In protest, Umanshi Lamba decided to contest independently. She has received support from Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) leader Hanuman Beniwal and Naresh Meena’s supporters. Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot also campaigned in favor of NSUI. However, the decision of NSUI’s national president Varun Chaudhary has created visible rifts inside the organization.

ABVP Prepares to Capitalize on NSUI’s Rift

ABVP has been quick to prepare strategies to benefit from NSUI’s infighting. Senior BJP leaders, including Rajasthan minister Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena and Haryana BJP in-charge Satish Poonia, have also joined the campaign. ABVP has been trying to use the controversy around Joslyn’s name to their advantage in the battle for votes.

Why Rajasthan Matters in DUSU

Since student union elections are not held in Rajasthan, DUSU has become a launching platform for many young leaders from the state. This year, Joslyn, Rahul Jhansla, and independent candidate Umanshi Lamba are representing Rajasthan strongly.

The election has not only turned into a battle of student politics but also carries the prestige of many senior political leaders from Rajasthan. With controversies, defections, and tough competition, the DUSU elections 2025 are shaping up to be one of the most high-stakes contests in recent years.
