The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has fielded Aryan Mann as its candidate for the post of president in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2025. Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is supporting Mann’s campaign. In a video appeal, Dutt urged students to vote for him. Aryan Mann shared the video on his Instagram account.
Aryan Mann hails from Bahadurgarh in Haryana, and his family has a strong presence in the liquor business and regional politics. Reports suggest that Aryan’s grandfather, the late Shrichand Mann, was the head of Lowa Satrah Khap for several years.
Aryan’s father, Sikandar Mann, is a major liquor businessman in Haryana, and he is the Executive Director of ADS Spirit Private Limited, a liquor factory located in Beri, Jhajjar. Sikandar Mann also served twice as the village sarpanch of Lowa Kalan.
Aryan’s uncle, Dalbir Mann, is also a well-known liquor trader, and he was once close to former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. After a change in government in Haryana, Dalbir shifted his political inclination towards the BJP.
The ABVP has announced its full central panel for the DUSU polls. Aryan Mann will contest for the president’s post, while Govind Tanwar has been nominated for vice-president. Kunal Chaudhary will contest for secretary, and Deepika Jha has been named for joint secretary.
Over the years, students from Haryana have played a major role in Delhi University’s student politics. In 2011, Ajay Chhikara from NSUI became the DUSU president. The following year, in 2012, NSUI’s Arun Hooda from Rohtak’s Asan village was elected president. Hooda was considered close to Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda.
In 2019, Akshit Dahiya from Sonipat was elected DUSU president as the ABVP candidate. Last year, NSUI’s Raunak Khatri secured the top post.
With Aryan Mann entering the race for DUSU president, the election is set to witness yet another strong influence from Haryana. Backed by a powerful family background and Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt’s public support, Mann has already drawn attention to ABVP’s campaign.
