Who Is Ankush Sachdeva? The Youngest On Hurun’s U-35 Indian Entrepreneur List

Ankush Sachdeva, CEO and co-founder of the Indian social media platform ShareChat, has become the youngest entrepreneur to feature in the inaugural ‘2024 Hurun India Under 35s’ list, which highlights 150 exceptional Indian entrepreneurs aged 35 or younger.

An IIT Kanpur graduate, Mr. Sachdeva co-founded ShareChat in 2015 with Bhanu Pratap Singh and Farid Ahsan. He completed his B.Tech in computer science and engineering in 2015 and interned at Microsoft in 2014 before launching ShareChat.

This isn’t Mr. Sachdeva’s first recognition. In 2018, he, along with his co-founders, was featured in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia list.

ShareChat is a social media platform tailored specifically for the Indian audience, offering users the ability to watch and share trending videos. The app also features chat rooms and supports 15 Indian languages.

Today, ShareChat boasts over 500 million downloads on the Google Play Store alone. However, the road to success was far from easy for Ankush Sachdeva and his two co-founders. While studying at IIT Kanpur, the trio experimented with various ventures, reportedly making 17 attempts before finding success with ShareChat.

In addition to ShareChat, Mr. Sachdeva created Moj, a short video platform often seen as India’s alternative to TikTok, which was banned in the country. Moj has garnered over 100 million downloads on the Google Play Store.

Originally starting as co-founder and Chief Product Officer of ShareChat, Mr. Sachdeva assumed the role of CEO in 2017, guiding the company to achieve unicorn status.

The Hurun Under 35 list also features Parita Parekh of Toddle and Isha Ambani of Reliance Retail as the youngest women entrepreneurs, both aged 32.
