With Diwali around the corner, the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate has issued crucial guidelines to control air pollution. In a significant move, only green crackers will be permitted for sale from October 18 to October 20, 2025. Five zones across Noida, Central Noida, and Greater Noida have been chosen by police to allow the sale of green firecrackers under temporary licenses, as per Supreme Court directions to protect the environment while keeping traditions alive.

What Are the Official Designated Zones?

The police have meticulously chosen five large, open grounds to centralize the sale of green crackers. To control crowds, traffic, and safety risks, the police have restricted sales to specific zones. This prevents random setups in residential or congested areas. For three days, only authorized vendors are permitted to operate at these locations, ensuring a secure and well-organized operation.

The five official locations are:

Noida Zone: Ramlila Ground, Sector 62 & Ramlila Ground, Sector 46.

Central Noida Zone: Kabaddi Ground near Garhi Gol Chakkar.

Greater Noida Zone: Aichhara Ramlila Ground & Empty ground at Agrasen Inter College.

Who Can Sell and What Are the Safety Rules?

So, who is behind the counters at these designated spots? The police have been processing a high volume of applications for temporary licenses. By Friday evening, more than 50 people had applied, and eight vendors had already received their temporary licenses. To get approval, sellers need NOCs from the Noida Authority and the Fire Department before the DCP issues the final permit. This strict process ensures that only verified vendors are allowed to sell.

Safety is the top priority. Pradeep Kumar Chaube, the head of the fire department, described stringent steps. Shops will be arranged with a 3-meter space between them in "L" or "I" shaped shelters. Every stall must have fire extinguishers, and no high-tension wires can be above the sales area. The use of open flames, candles, or gas lamps is strictly prohibited. Police and fire tenders will be stationed at these locations to handle any emergencies.

Where Else Can You Find Authorized Sellers?

When licenses are issued, these nine potential places could be your go-to spots for authorized green crackers.

What Should Buyers Keep in Mind?

Before you head out to make your purchases, what are the key rules to remember? First and foremost, be sure you are purchasing from a licensed dealer or an officially recognized website. Secondly, look specifically for "green crackers" which will have a QR code from the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI). This QR code is your guarantee of a less-polluting firework.

The Supreme Court has also banned the online sale of all firecrackers, so avoid e-commerce platforms. Lastly, keep the burning times in mind. Although they are provisional, the designated windows are October 19–20 from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Following these schedules is essential to a legal and peaceful celebration.
