Today, the nation is seeing a classic late monsoon weather pattern, with a sharp contrast between high humidity, torrential downpours, and impending thunderstorms.Based on the latest bulletins from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and leading weather agencies, here is a detailed, region-wise breakdown to help you plan your day.

Severe Weather Alerts: What You Need to Know

Today, the IMD has identified several areas as experiencing considerable weather activity.

Heavy Rainfall Alert: Isolated places over Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa, and Punjab are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. Residents should be cautious of waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Thunderstorm & Lightning Warning: Isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are very likely over Bihar and Jammu-Kashmir. East Rajasthan and Uttarakhand are also predicted to experience thunderstorms with lightning.

Northern India: Humidity and Potential Storms

The air feels heavier than the temperature indicates due to the excessive humidity levels that are plaguing the northern plains.

  • Delhi: The capital will see a partly cloudy sky with a slight chance of very light rain. However, the high humidity will make the maximum temperature of 37°C feel more oppressive. The low will be around 25°C.
  • Chandigarh: Similar to Delhi, expect a partly cloudy sky with a definite possibility of rain and a pleasant high of 26°C.
  • Lucknow: With temperatures hovering around 30°C and the possibility of rain, cloudy skies will predominate.
  • Jaipur: Jaipurites can expect cloudy skies throughout the day with a comfortable high of 28°C.

Western India: The Core of Monsoon Activity

With heavy rains expected, the western coast continues to be the focal point of monsoon wrath.

  • Mumbai: The financial capital is set for moderate to heavy rain showers. Temperatures will be steady between 26–30°C, coupled with very high humidity levels. Commuters should anticipate traffic disruptions.
  • Pune: While not as severe as Mumbai, Pune will see patches of light drizzle, offering a cool respite with temperatures around a pleasant 22–23°C.
  • Ahmedabad: The city will wake up to misty conditions transitioning into a cloudy day. High humidity will accompany temperatures between 27–29°C.

Southern India: Cool Breezes and Coastal Showers

The southern peninsula is experiencing relatively cooler temperatures with sporadic rain activity.

  • Bengaluru: The garden city will have a partly cloudy to cloudy sky with a good chance of some rain. The day will be notably cool, with temperatures ranging from 21–23°C.
  • Chennai: Mist is forecasted for the morning, giving way to a day with a possibility of rain. The maximum temperature will be around 29°C.
  • Hyderabad: Expect misty conditions with rain likely. The weather will be cool and comfortable with highs between 23–25°C.

Eastern India continues to experience steady monsoon weather with mist and rain.

  • Kolkata: The city of joy is likely to see mist and rain today. Temperatures will be stable around 27–28°C.
  • Patna: Residents can expect rain throughout the day, with the mercury hovering around 28°C.
