WCD Department Warns Against Fraudulent Registrations for Non-Existent Scheme

The Delhi government’s Women and Child Development (WCD) department has issued a clarification regarding the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana,’ a scheme announced by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the 2025 Delhi assembly elections. The department has officially stated that no such scheme has been notified by the Delhi government, refuting claims made by AAP leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, about the scheme’s launch.

WCD Clarifies No Official Scheme Exists

In a public notice, the WCD department clarified that any private individual or political party collecting personal information, such as forms or registration details, under the name of the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’ is engaging in fraudulent activity. The notice emphasized that since the scheme does not exist, there is no process for registration or application under this non-existent initiative. The government warned citizens to be cautious of such practices, stating that any such collections are unauthorized and unlawful.

The notice further advised the public to avoid sharing sensitive personal information, including bank account numbers, voter ID details, and phone numbers, as these could lead to privacy violations and data breaches. The WCD department also urged citizens not to fall for misleading promises associated with this non-existent scheme, emphasizing that it lacks any official backing or authority.

Kejriwal’s Claims Contradicted by Government

This clarification comes in the wake of a statement by AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, who had claimed that the registration for the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’ would begin on December 23. Kejriwal had promised that women in Delhi would receive Rs 2,100 per month under the scheme, and AAP teams would be visiting homes for registration and providing identification cards. However, the WCD department has now labeled these claims as baseless, cautioning the public against falling prey to potential scams.

Citizens have been urged to remain vigilant and report any unauthorized collection of personal data, as such actions are fraudulent and could lead to further consequences.
