WATCH: Rescue Efforts in Tiruvannamalai: 7 Feared Trapped After Mudslide

On December 2, 2024, Tamil Nadu witnessed a tragic event when a mudslide struck the district of Tiruvannamalai, leaving seven people feared trapped. The disaster occurred amid heavy rainfall that had been pouring over the region, causing widespread disruptions and triggering landslides.

The mudslide buried several houses and roads, making it difficult for rescuers to reach the victims. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) swiftly deployed 30 personnel to the site. These brave responders used hydraulic lifts and other rescue equipment to search for survivors trapped beneath the debris. The NDRF’s operation was a race against time, as the heavy rains continued to pour, further complicating their efforts.

A video of the rescue operation surfaced online, showing the NDRF team working tirelessly, their faces covered with determination as they carefully excavated the rubble in search of any signs of life. Despite the challenging conditions, the rescue team remained focused on bringing the trapped individuals to safety.

The rain had been relentless in Tiruvannamalai and surrounding areas for days, with flood warnings issued in various parts of Tamil Nadu. Local authorities had already taken precautions, but the mudslide was a powerful reminder of nature’s unpredictability. As the NDRF team continued their efforts, the hope for finding survivors remained strong.

This incident highlighted the importance of swift response in disaster situations and the resilience of rescue teams who work in the most perilous conditions. While the fate of the seven trapped individuals was uncertain, the rescue operation continued with unwavering dedication, keeping the hope alive for their safe return.
