On Friday, a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA broke down in tears during an interview after being denied a party ticket from Haryana. Shashi Ranjan Parmar, who was seeking BJP candidature from Bhiwani and Tosham for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, was visibly emotional when asked about his name being excluded from the candidate list.
“I had thought that my name would be on the list…,” Parmar began, but he quickly choked up, broke down, and started weeping. Despite the interviewer’s attempts to comfort him, saying the party and his constituency would recognize his value, the former MLA continued to cry. “I had assured people that my name was being considered. What do I do now? I am helpless,” he lamented.
Watch:
The interviewer urged Parmar to stay strong for his party workers and supporters, saying in Hindi, “Netaji, aap honsla rakhein (Sir, please stay strong).” Struggling to speak, Parmar expressed his distress, saying, “What is happening to me… the way that I have been treated… I am in so much pain. What kind of decisions are being taken?”
Haryana is set to go to the polls on October 5, with votes being counted on October 8. The deadline for filing nominations is September 12, with scrutiny on September 13. Nominations can be withdrawn until September 16.
