Union Minister Giriraj Singh has launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of planning to transform West Bengal into a “Muslim state.” Singh also criticized opposition parties, alleging that they were working towards establishing an “Islamic state” in India.
Singh drew parallels between Mamata Banerjee and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, claiming that Banerjee’s policies aimed to create a Muslim-majority state in Bengal. He referenced a previous incident where a minister in Banerjee’s government reportedly showcased a location as “mini-Pakistan,” suggesting a desire to emulate Pakistan in Bengal.
The Union Minister emphasized that if voted back into power, the government would implement initiatives such as the National Register of Citizens (NRC), Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Uniform Civil Code, and population control measures. He vowed to end what he termed as Banerjee’s “dictatorship” akin to Kim Jong Un’s rule.
Singh further accused the opposition bloc, particularly the Congress, of working towards granting preferential treatment to Muslims, pointing to instances such as Muslims being granted Other Backward Class (OBC) status in Karnataka during Congress rule. He claimed this was part of a larger agenda to transform India into an Islamic state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi echoed similar sentiments, asserting that his government would protect the reservation rights of Dalits and backward classes. He criticized the opposition for allegedly prioritizing appeasement politics over equitable distribution of resources.
In response, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge refuted these claims, accusing the BJP and RSS of targeting reservations for Dalits, tribals, and backward classes. Kharge accused the ruling parties of attempting to end these reservations, contrasting their stance with the BJP’s assertions on safeguarding reservation rights.
