Following the video’s widespread circulation, local police have launched an investigation into the incident, which is being treated as a case of ragging under the Prohibition of Ragging Act. The incident, which occurred on February 2, involved students who have since graduated, as confirmed by CI Chintala Krishna Reddy of the One Town Police Station.
Reddy stressed the seriousness of ragging as a criminal offense and vowed that those responsible would face stringent legal consequences. “We have filed a case against the involved students and will ensure strict action is taken,” he assured.
The YSR Congress Party has criticized the Chandrababu Naidu-led government for the state’s law and order situation in response to the incident, demanding prompt and severe action against those implicated.
