The Greater Noida dowry death case has taken a grim turn with new details surfacing about accused Vipin Bhati and his wife, 28-year-old Nikki Bhati, was allegedly set afire on August 21 in the Kasna area. Police have already arrested Vipin, his mother, father, and brother in connection with the case. At the same time, a past FIR against Vipin Bhati from 2024 has resurfaced, adding more layers to the ongoing investigation.
2024 FIR Against Vipin Bhati Surfaces
An assault FIR was registered against Vipin Bhati in 2024 at Jarcha police station and according to Kasna SHO Dharmendra Shukla, Vipin was caught with a girl, leading to the case. The revelation of this past FIR has raised further questions about his history of violent behavior.

Nikki Bhati’s Death and Family Allegations
Nikki Bhati allegedly suffered months of abuse before her tragic death. Her family has accused Vipin and his relatives of dowry harassment. Nikki’s sister Kanchan, who is married to Vipin’s brother, claimed that her sister was assaulted and later set on fire by him. She released disturbing videos showing Nikki engulfed in flames and running down a staircase.
In one clip, Vipin can be seen pouring liquid on Nikki as she sat on the floor. Another video shows him physically assaulting her. Kanchan said she deliberately recorded these moments to document years of abuse.
Police Arrests and Investigation Updates
On August 24, Greater Noida Police arrested Nikki’s father-in-law and brother-in-law. Earlier, Vipin and his 55-year-old mother Daya Bhati were also taken into custody. Investigators said Nikki’s murder came after rising tensions between the couple. Nikki wanted to reopen the beauty parlour she co-owned and also enjoyed creating Instagram reels with her sister. Vipin opposed both, insisting that women in his family could neither run businesses nor post on social media.
Conflicting Claims and Viral Videos
The case has also seen conflicting narratives and while videos released by the family show horrifying abuse, another CCTV clip circulating on social media claims to place Vipin outside the house during the incident. Police have not confirmed the authenticity of this footage and said it is being shared only on social media.
