Violence Erupts at Dehradun Railway Station Over Interfaith Relationship

Communal Clash Breaks Out

A violent clash reportedly broke out at Dehradun railway station on Thursday night involving members of two communities over an interfaith relationship. The conflict began when a young couple from Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, were spotted at the station, drawing the attention of individuals from both the Hindu and Muslim communities who confronted them.

Escalation and Property Damage

What started as a confrontation quickly turned into chaos. Objects were thrown, stones pelted, and parked trains were damaged during the altercation. The incident, sparked by tensions over the interfaith relationship, drew a heavy police response.

Police Response and Investigation

Ajay Singh, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Dehradun, confirmed that the girl, a minor, had traveled from Badaun to meet someone in Dehradun. A missing person’s report had already been filed in Badaun, and local authorities were tracking her movements based on her location data, notifying the Government Railway Police (GRP).

Upon receiving reports of the communal unrest, the local police rushed to the scene. A large number of officers were deployed in and around the station to restore order. SSP Singh arrived to control the situation and ensure that peace was maintained.

Maintaining Order and Further Action

Police teams continued to patrol the railway station area to ensure calm, while CCTV footage was being reviewed to identify those responsible for the violence. SSP Singh urged the crowd to disperse, assuring them that the matter would be handled appropriately.

Senior police officials stated that a thorough investigation would follow, and all individuals involved in the clash would face consequences for their actions.
