Early Monday morning, tragedy struck as a bus carrying pilgrims collided with a stationary truck near Musepur Barachavar on the Purvanchal Expressway in Ghazipur district. The collision resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals, including two women, while 28 others sustained injuries.
The incident occurred as pilgrims from Bhojpur in Bihar were journeying back home after offering prayers in Ayodhya. According to Ghazipur police, bus driver Ramnivas (aged 45), Kamla Dev (aged 65), and army personnel Vinod Singh passed away during treatment at a hospital in Ghazipur.
Additionally, Sunita Singh succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at a hospital in Mau district.
In Ghazipur, 18 individuals are currently under medical care, while 10 are receiving treatment in Mau.
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the driver had begun to doze off, causing him to overlook the stationary truck and collide with it from behind.
