On India’s 76th Republic Day, the United States extended warm greetings to India, celebrating the enduring significance of the nation’s Constitution and its pivotal role in establishing the world’s largest democracy. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed Washington’s pride in joining New Delhi for this momentous occasion, noting that the India-US relationship continues to strengthen and will define the 21st century.

In a statement issued on January 26, Rubio acknowledged the importance of Republic Day, saying, “On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of India as they celebrate their nation’s Republic Day. As they commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India, we join them in recognizing its enduring significance as the foundation of the world’s largest democracy.”

US-India Partnership Reaches New Heights

Secretary Rubio further underlines the strong partnership between the United States and India by mentioning that their relationship keeps growing. He highlights that the US-India partnership is not merely strategic but also based on the age-old friendship between both peoples. Their economic collaboration is kept going by this mutual bond, as well as efforts to unlock the full potential of this relationship.

Rubio further underscored the point that the Quad – a multilateral alliance between the US, India, Japan, and Australia – plays a critical role in nurturing a “free, open, and prosperous” Indo-Pacific region. “The partnership between the United States and India continues to reach new heights and will be a defining relationship of the 21st century,” the statement by Rubio further added.

Advancing Cooperation and Strengthening Ties

The United States has more reasons to look forward to cooperation with India in the upcoming year. In several sectors, such as space research and technology, it further stressed cooperation deepened as the Quad members cooperate with one another in pursuing peace and prosperity for the region of Indo-Pacific.

Apart from these deliberations, Rubio’s latest visit to Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reinforced the deep intent of US-India ties strengthening. Both the leaders deliberated on many critical issues like economic cooperation, regional security concerns, and initiatives taken towards solving the issues of irregular migration.

Quad’s Role in Enhancing Regional Security

Earlier this week, Marco Rubio welcomed his first day as the new US Secretary of State by hosting a major meeting of the Quad Foreign Ministers. These included Australia’s Penny Wong, Japan’s Takeshi Iwaya, and India’s S. Jaishankar. The gathering reaffirmed the Quad’s commitment to strengthening economic opportunities and promoting peace and security in the Indo-Pacific.

In the meeting, Rubio also revealed his interest in strengthening economic ties between the US and India. He emphasized a shared vision of regional stability and prosperity. This meeting was viewed as a key step in cementing the strategic relevance of the Quad in the Indo-Pacific.

India Celebrating its 76th Republic Day

The Indian Republic is marking its 76th Republic Day in great style along the Kartavya Path. This year, the Republic Day celebration will showcase the great richness of cultural diversity, unity, military strength, and progress that the country holds. The president, Draupadi Murmu, will be presiding over the celebrations with the Chief Guest Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto gracing the occasion.
