UPSC Aspirant Dies From Electrocution In Patel Nagar, Govt Faces Backlash

New Delhi: Nilesh Rai, a 26-year-old UPSC aspirant, died of electrocution near Patel Nagar metro station in West Delhi on Monday. The incident drew criticism from both the opposition and ruling party members. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BPJ) declared, “We will not remain silent on this injustice; we demand justice.” BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa stated, “This is not an accident; it is a murder caused by the insensitivity and inadequacy of the Kejriwal government.”

A police official reported that the student was electrocuted after touching an iron gate that had electricity running through it, which was exacerbated by waterlogging on the road. The official added that his body was found hanging from the iron gate of his nearby paying guest accommodation. He was immediately rushed to RML Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The incident drew criticism from both opposition and ruling party members. BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa took to the social media platform X, stating, “A promising UPSC aspirant tragically lost his life due to the negligence and incompetence of the Kejriwal government.” He further alleged, “We will not remain silent on this injustice; we demand justice. This is not an accident; it is a murder caused by the insensitivity and inadequacy of the government.”

Meanwhile, AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal described the incident as a murder rather than an accident, attributing it to the failure of the government system. In a social media post on X, she questioned, “What answer will the parents of that child receive for his death while walking on the road? Do the lives of ordinary citizens have no value?” She further called for an FIR to be filed and for immediate action to be taken against those responsible.
