Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra raised concerns about Swiggy’s delivery service on January 16. She complained that the ice creams she ordered were spoilt and inedible. Consequently, she demanded a refund or replacement.
Moitra Takes to Twitter
Moitra posted her grievance on social media at 10:15 pm. She stated:
“Sorry Swiggy – you’ve got to up your game. Unacceptable that I ordered expensive Minus Thirty mini sticks ice cream & it arrives spoilt and inedible. Expecting a refund or replacement asap.”
Shortly after her tweet, Swiggy’s customer service team responded promptly, requesting her order details. In response, Moitra shared the information, revealing that she had spent ₹1,220 on 10 ice creams.
Social Media Reacts with Humor and Criticism
Unsurprisingly, her complaint triggered various reactions online. Many users jokingly linked her current issue to her previous controversies, such as the luxury handbag incident in 2023.
However, Moitra addressed the trolls directly. She wrote:
“Just because I am an MP doesn’t mean I am not a normal person who orders food online. Please get over this mindset that public reps are not normal beings. And then you complain people are behaving like ‘netas’.”
Broader Conversations Emerge
As the discussion unfolded, many users began sharing their own experiences with delivery services. For instance, one user mentioned, “Happened to me twice with Minus Thirty orders. It’s frustrating, but I understand the challenges with frozen deliveries.”
Others offered advice. One comment read, “Never order something that melts quickly unless the store is very close.”
Spotlight on Delivery Challenges
Through this incident, attention shifted to the difficulties faced by delivery platforms when handling frozen items. Moreover, it highlighted the need for improved customer service in e-commerce and food delivery sectors.
Meanwhile, Swiggy has yet to release an official statement. Nevertheless, the incident has sparked an important conversation about ensuring better service and customer satisfaction.
