Telangana Jagruti President Kalvakuntla Kavitha has strongly condemned the BJP-led Central Government for what she termed as the continued and systematic neglect of Telangana, after the Union Budget once again failed to allocate any meaningful funds to the state. Reacting to the Union Budget on the social media platform X, Kavitha said Telangana has received “a big zero” for the twelfth consecutive year, despite the BJP being in power at the Centre for over a decade. She alleged that the party has consistently betrayed the trust of the people of Telangana by denying the state its rightful share of resources.
Questioning the Centre’s repeated claims of “cooperative federalism,” Kavitha said the actions of the Narendra Modi government stand in stark contrast to its rhetoric. She pointed out that several statutory assurances made to Telangana under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act remain unfulfilled even after twelve years. Crucial funds due to the state, including bifurcation-related commitments, continue to be indefinitely delayed, she said.
Kavitha expressed concern over what she described as a discriminatory approach adopted by the Centre towards Telangana, particularly when BJP leaders frequently speak about economic growth, fiscal discipline and stability. “When it comes to Telangana, these principles are conveniently forgotten,” she remarked.
Highlighting the political irony, Kavitha said that despite Telangana electing eight BJP Members of Parliament, the state has received nothing in return. “Eight MPs given, zero in return,” she said, alleging that instead of releasing pending funds, the Centre has pushed important proposals into bureaucratic limbo.
She noted that funding for key infrastructure projects such as the Regional Ring Road, national highways and radial roads—amounting to Rs 34,367 crore—has been stalled. The Central Government has also failed to release its mandated 50 per cent share for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II expansion. Further, Kavitha said approvals for new railway lines have not been granted, the proposed Warangal Coach Factory has been kept on hold, and Telangana has been denied an IIM, 16 Navodaya Vidyalayas and nine Kendriya Vidyalayas.
