Two people have been killed in the collapse of the boundary wall of Mahakal Temple amid relentless rainfall in Ujjain on Friday evening, PTI reports. Though it is feared that many people may be buried under the debris, the number of casualties could not be confirmed.
Rescue operations are underway and around a dozen people are likely to be stuck. As many as four injured persons have been taken to the hospital.
One man and one woman have died, he confirmed reports of that number of fatalities. Two others have been referred to Indore for further treatment. “The heavy flow of water caused the collapse,” Ujjain District Magistrate Neeraj Kumar Singh said.
Ashok Patel, Chief Medical Officer of Health, while speaking with ANI said, “Four people were brought here. Two of whom died, and two are under treatment.” Patel said medical team is on standby for further casualties.
