In a significant operation aimed at ensuring public safety, Udhampur Police have detained two female terror associates under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA). The individuals, identified as Maryama Begum, wife of Mohd. Shafeeq from Loudhara, Basantgarh, and Arshad Begum, wife of late Jamal Din from Rai Chak, Basantgarh, were found to be deeply involved in aiding terrorist activities.
Authorities revealed that both women played a critical role in supporting terrorist groups, providing logistical assistance, and acting as guides for their movements in the region. Their activities were deemed a substantial threat to the safety and security of the state, with potential to disrupt public tranquility.
This detention comes as part of a broader crackdown by Jammu and Kashmir Police. In the past week alone, more than a dozen terror associates have been apprehended from different parts of the region. These individuals were reportedly working to revive terrorism and were in active contact with handlers based in Pakistan.
The detention of two women OGW under the PSA was made to prevent further criminal actions that could disrupt peace and stability. The police stressed their commitment to dismantling the support networks enabling terrorism in the region.
