Shiv Sena Leader Sandeep Thapar was brutally attacked by Nihang Sikhs in Ludhiana on Friday afternoon. Two Nihang have been arrested by Ludhiana Police from Fatehgarh Sahib.
In a Press Conference, Ludhiana Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal and Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Ravjot Kaur Grewal stated that the attackers have been identified as Sarabjit Singh Saba (34) of Tibba road, and Harjot Singh alias Jota (30) of Bhamiyan, both in Ludhiana, and Tehal Singh Ladi of Amritsar.
Thapar was returning from office of Samvedna Trust attending death anniversary of trust’s president when he was attacked by a group of Nihang Sikhs. One of the Nihang pushed his Gunman ASI Sukhwant Singh and started attacking with swords on his head.
A group of Nihang had surrounded Thapar’s two wheeler and as soon as he got down the two wheeler one of the accused tried to snatch his revolver and pushed him aside. Then they opened attack on Thapar with swords, said ASI in his statement.
“The on-duty gunman who was with Thapar has been the subject of an inquiry and will shortly be suspended,” stated Chahal.
