Two people have been arrested in connection with the shooting of a 24-year-old taxi driver in Delhi’s Badarpur area, according to Delhi Police on Sunday. The victim, identified as Gautam Saini, remains in critical condition at AIIMS hospital.
Taxi Driver Found Shot in Head
The case came to light when Badarpur Police Station received a Medico-Legal Case (MLC) report from Apollo Hospital during the early hours of Sunday. The report concerned a man who had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. The individual was identified as Gautam Saini, a taxi driver and resident of Gurugram.
After initial treatment at Apollo Hospital, Saini was shifted to AIIMS. Police noted that he remains in a critical but stable condition. Authorities have initiated legal proceedings and further investigation is ongoing.
Second Incident: Man Found Unconscious, Later Declared Dead
In a separate incident, which occurred a day earlier, a 20-year-old man was found lying unconscious near the Badarpur Bus Stand with severe injuries to his head and stab wounds.
The incident took place around 4:35 am on Mathura Road, near Bus Stand Number 5 at Badarpur Border. A patrolling police team spotted the injured man bleeding from the back of his head and immediately responded.
“Staff immediately rushed to the spot, i.e., near Bus Stand No. 5, 433, Badarpur Border, where one male individual was found lying unconscious on the roadside,” the Delhi Police stated.
The man was quickly transported to AIIMS Trauma Centre using a PS Badarpur ERV vehicle. However, upon arrival at around 5:30 am, medical officials declared him dead.
Victim Identified as Makbul Akram
Following the incident, the police crime team visited the scene to conduct a thorough examination and take photographs. The deceased was identified as Makbul Akram, a 20-year-old resident of Gali No. 04, Shyam Colony in Faridabad. He originally hailed from West Champaran, Bihar. Police have begun a detailed investigation to uncover the motive and circumstances behind Akram’s death.
