Tripura CM Manik Saha Lauds Police For Rs 2 Crore Drug Bust

On Friday, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha praised the Tripura Police for their successful operation in dismantling a drug network, seizing drugs valued at Rs 2 crore in Ambassa, Dhalai district.

Police officials from the Ambassa Police Station intercepted a vehicle and seized 80,000 YABA tablets worth Rs 2 crore. According to CM Saha, the police received confidential information about the vehicle’s movement, which led to its detention and the driver’s arrest, resulting in the recovery of the illegal tablets.

He further mentioned that a case has been registered under the NDPS Act and extended his congratulations to the police for their dedication. In a post on X, Manik Saha stated, “Great job by Ambassa Police for seizing 80,000 YABA tablets worth Rs 2 CRORE. Acting on secret info, Ambassa PS detained a vehicle & arrested a driver. From where the recovery is made. Case under NDPS Act has been registered. Congratulations to Ambassa Police for their constant efforts against #DrugMenace.”

On October 30, in a large-scale operation on the eve of Diwali, Assam Rifles seized 90,000 Yaba tablets and apprehended two individuals in the Narangbari area of West Tripura district.

According to an official release, acting on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles executed a well-planned operation that led to the significant recovery of Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 18 crore in the international market. The operation also resulted in the seizure of a vehicle used in the transport of the drugs.

The detained individuals, along with the confiscated drugs, were handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Agartala for further investigation.
