A devastating fire broke out late Friday night in the neonatal ward of Rani Lakshmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi, resulting in the tragic deaths of 10 newborns. The fire, which began around 10:30 pm, has left the region in shock, as the hospital serves as a vital center for neonatal care.

Six fire brigade units, along with an Army firefighting vehicle, were deployed to tackle the blaze. Thick smoke in the neonatal care unit made rescue efforts challenging. So far, 37 infants have been rescued safely, while over 50 remain trapped.
