Traffic Restored on Jammu-Srinagar Highway After Mudslide

Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was restored on Sunday, authorities confirmed. Earlier in the day, a mudslide had blocked the highway at the Mehad-Cafeteria area in Ramban. The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police announced that traffic is now moving again, with the SANJY down convoy heading toward Jammu, and stranded vehicles between Nashri and Banihal being cleared.

The Traffic Police urged commuters to remain patient and adhere to lane discipline, warning that overtaking could cause congestion. On August 10, an advisory was issued advising against travel on National Highway-44 due to the risk of landslides and falling rocks.

Additionally, flash floods in Drungali Nallah damaged the breast wall of a bridge in Poonch, leading to the diversion of traffic from the bridge, which connects the Buddha Amarnath Mandi area to the NH 144 Poonch-Jammu National Highway. Inspector Karim Jatt, present at the site, stated that the bridge was damaged by flash floods early in the morning, leading to the closure of traffic and notification of senior officials.
