Traffic Police Strictness on Holi Leads to Decrease in Fines

Whether it should be called a strict implementation of traffic rules by delhi police or awareness among people, as this year on Holi, compared to last year, fewer fines were issued. However, the biggest relief was that accidents decreased compared to last year.
According to Delhi Traffic police, there was an increase in fines for cases of drunk driving this year, with a total of 824 fines issued this Holi, while last year, fines for drunk driving were issued to 559 people. Similarly, this year, fines were imposed on 1,524 people for driving and riding without a helmet, whereas last year, fines were imposed on 3,410 people.

Additionally, this year, 1,241 fines were imposed for violations of other traffic rules such as tinted glass, triple riding, and not wearing seat belts. Overall, this year, a total of 3,589 fines were issued on Holi, while last year, a total of 7,643 fines were issued, which is more than double compared to this year.

The biggest relief this year was that road accidents on Holi significantly decreased. They were also less than half compared to last year. Last year, there were a total of 24 accidents on Holi, while this year, there were only 11 accidents. As a result, there was also a significant reduction in fatal road accidents, and the roads were safer during Holi.
