Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj drew parallels between Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest and the era of British rule, expressing concern over the current atmosphere of fear in the country.
Bhardwaj remarked that despite the arrests of top AAP leaders, including Chief Arvind Kejriwal, the party remains resilient. He highlighted the gathering of opposition leaders at the March 31 rally, which he claimed startled the BJP. According to Bhardwaj, the BJP responded by carrying out arrests as part of their strategy.
Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with an alleged money laundering case related to the now-defunct Delhi excise policy case, resulted in his judicial custody until April 15.
Bhardwaj emphasized the unity of AAP leaders, including Delhi Minister Atishi, AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak, and Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak, who rallied together despite the arrests of senior party members.
Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, Bhardwaj accused the BJP of attempting to weaken AAP by arresting its leaders but asserted that the party remains steadfast. He criticized the atmosphere of fear prevailing in the country, likening it to the intimidation tactics of the British colonial era.
Bhardwaj alleged that the BJP government at the center has adopted similar tactics of instilling fear among the populace, akin to the British rule. He expressed concern over the current situation, stressing that such an atmosphere is detrimental to the country’s well-being.
