TMC fully involved in corruption: Bengal BJP

The BJP on Sunday used the platform of commemoration of the Amrit Kalash Yatra to lambast the Trinamool Congress for the endemic corruption in West Bengal which has led to the arrest of two Ministers in connection with various scams in the state.

Leader after leader of the BJP took the stage to criticise the TMC which, in turn, has launched a series of protests in district headquarters to protest the arrests of the TMC leaders as “acts of pure conspiracy”.

Senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said: “It is not only the Trinamool Congress leaders who have indulged in corruption. Their entire families are involved. Every bhai, bhatija, son, daughter, wife, girlfriends of Trinamool Congress leaders is a part of the network of corruption that Mamata Banerjee has institutionalised.”

BJP State president Sukanta Majumdar said that the ruling TMC, since coming to power in 2011, was engaged in plundering West Bengal’s resources, depriving the people of their just dues and needs. “One TMC leader after the other is going to jail in corruption cases, and no one knows where it will end. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is paying homage to the great sons of the country with the ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh’ programme, the TMC is plundering the resources of the State and depriving the people,” alleged Majumdar.

Majumdar, who is also the MP of Balurghat, said: “After minister Partha Chatterjee, it is now Jyoti Priya Mallick who has been arrested for corruption. MLA Manik Bhattacharya is also in jail. The misdeeds of one after the other senior TMC leader are coming to light. We wonder where it will end.”

Majumdar said the BJP was drawing up plans to the streets to take on the “monumental corruption” of the TMC Government as its senior leaders had cheated lakhs of common people.

BJP leader Rahul Sinha who was also present in the rally which traversed three kilometres, said around 1,400 people with soil collected from 344 blocks of the state will travel to New Delhi in a special train from the Kolkata railway station.
