The dust had barely settled on the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) disastrous performance in the Bihar elections when a new storm erupted from within the first family. Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, publicly quit politics and disowned her family, leveling shocking allegations of abuse and expulsion against her brother Tejashwi Yadav’s closest aides.

Who is Rohini Acharya?

Rohini Acharya is not a distant family member but a central figure who once captured the nation’s sympathy. She’s the doctor-daughter who once donated a kidney to save her father Lalu Yadav’s life. That history of sacrifice makes her claims of being sidelined especially powerful and troubling for the family’s image. Her work as a doctor and her life as an NRI in Singapore set her apart from typical political circles, giving her claims a different kind of weight.

What Exactly Did Rohini Acharya Allege?

In a dramatic confrontation with reporters at Patna airport, Rohini Acharya painted a picture of intense family discord. She stated she was “thrown out of the house, disgraced, abused, and even hit with a chappal.” She directly pointed the finger at three individuals: her brother and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and his close associates Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Alam. Her claim points to a violent, humiliating removal from the family, turning a private fight into a public showdown.

Is This About the Election Loss or a Deeper Family Rift?

Her choice to speak now is crucial. It followed just a day after the RJD-led alliance’s major defeat in Bihar, where it got only 25 seats while the BJP and JD(U) secured 89 and 85. Rohini pointed to this connection, saying, “The whole nation is asking why the party failed like this.” Her accusations hint that the electoral blow may have brought buried family tensions to the surface, exposing a serious power struggle and old personal conflicts.

Who Did She Name?

The two names Rohini highlighted most were Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Alam. Sanjay, an RJD Rajya Sabha MP, is known as Tejashwi Yadav’s top aide. Rameez Alam is an old friend of Tejashwi’s from a political background in Uttar Pradesh. By pointing at them, Rohini indicates the clash isn’t just within the family—Tejashwi’s key advisors also seem to hold major influence.

What Does This Mean for the Future of the RJD?

This public clash is the second major family blow-up in recent months, coming after the removal of another sibling, Tej Pratap Yadav. Rohini’s move shows a growing split inside the Lalu Yadav family—essentially the heart of the RJD. The sight of a daughter who once saved her father now accusing the party leadership of physical and verbal abuse creates a serious image and stability crisis, raising doubts about unity and internal control at a time when the party is at its weakest.
