Rescue teams recovered three more bodies from the debris on Sunday morning, bringing the death toll in the Lucknow building collapse to eight. The Harmilap Building, located in the Transport Nagar area, collapsed around 5 pm on Saturday, injuring 28 others. Rescue operations are ongoing as officials work to ensure no one remains trapped beneath the rubble.
The four-year-old building housed multiple businesses, including a pharmaceutical warehouse, a motor workshop, and other godowns. Witnesses reported cracks in a pillar just before the collapse, leaving workers little time to evacuate. Rescue teams continue their search through the debris to ensure no one remains trapped. Workers on the ground floor, including Akash Singh, noticed the issue but had no time to react before the structure gave way.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken immediate action, directing district officials to expedite relief and rescue operations. Medical aid is being provided to those injured, and teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are leading efforts to clear the site.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who represents Lucknow in Parliament, expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of lives and assured that the local administration is providing every possible support to those affected by the tragedy.
The rescue operations remain ongoing as authorities work to prevent further casualties.
