The only business of Opposition parties is to create commotion even for good things

The Opposition parties, in their unsuccessful attempt to find an issue to challenge the Narendra Modi government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), are now creating a ruckus over the inauguration of the new Parliament building. The Congress, Trinamool Congress, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray), Communist Party of India (Marxist), Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Communist Party of India (CPI), Indian Union Muslim League, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, National Conference, Kerala Congress (M), Revolutionary Socialist Party, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), and Rashtriya Lok Dal have declined Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to the inauguration of the new Parliament building, purely as a political move to oppose him. When the collective Opposition fails to find any issue, they resort to opposing the government’s plans. Similarly, the Opposition had also opposed the Central Vista project and the Agni Path scheme. They have been consistently opposing several welfare schemes as well.

The disappointed and issue-less Opposition, in their failed attempt to level corruption allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Central Ministers, and the Chief Ministers and ministers of BJP-ruled states, have now announced a boycott of the inauguration of the Parliament building by not inviting President Droupadi Murmu. These are the same Opposition parties that not only opposed the country’s first tribal woman candidate in the presidential elections but also made derogatory remarks against her. The controversial comments made by Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, were widely condemned across the country. Similarly, leaders of the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Trinamool Congress also made inappropriate remarks about a woman president, belonging to tribal community and as a result, protests against these leaders were held across the country by the tribal community.

During the Congress rule, numerous government schemes, buildings, universities, educational institutions, airports, hospitals, new cities, and colonies were named after the Gandhi family. Even if we do not consider the entire country, just look at Delhi and see how many buildings and institutions are named after Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, and Sanjay Gandhi. The airport is named after Indira Gandhi, and the university is named after Jawaharlal Nehru. If the name of Connaught Place is changed, it is replaced with Indira and Rajiv Chowk. Even the hospitals are named after the Gandhi family. Now, Rahul Gandhi, from the impoverished and backward family, is opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who became the Prime Minister. The leaders of the Congress and other Opposition parties have conveniently forgotten that it was former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who inaugurated the Parliament Annex in 1975. The foundation stone of the Parliament Library was laid by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1987.

The foundation of the new Parliament building was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since then, the Opposition has been questioning the Parliament building. They even objected when the Ashoka emblem was installed by the Opposition. The most significant thing is that Opposition parties, who oppose each other, are coming together on this issue and claiming that there is Opposition unity in the country. Representatives from the Biju Janata Dal, Bahujan Samaj Party, Telugu Desam Party, YSR Congress, AIADMK, and Shiromani Akali Dal will be present at the inauguration. The Opposition is attempting to send a message that they have united against Modi. For a long time, the dual politics of the Congress has been observed in the country particularly in West Bengal, despite the killing of Congress members by the Left Front government. The help of the Communists was taken to form a government at the Centre. By forming an alliance with Left parties in West Bengal, the Congress conveniently forgot the widespread killings of its own workers. Mamata Banerjee formed the Trinamool Congress in Opposition to the Congress for the sake of protesting against the atrocities committed by the Congress. Today, Mamata Banerjee has no hesitation in joining hands with the Communists. The truth is that boycotting the inauguration ceremony of the Parliament building by the Opposition parties is merely opposition for the sake of opposition, and the claim of Opposition unity is a deception.
