Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) India to establish a cutting-edge data centre campus in Hyderabad’s Meerkhanpet. The project, worth ₹3,500 crore, underscores Telangana’s commitment to becoming a global technology hub.
The MoU was signed during Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s visit to Singapore as part of the “Telangana Rising” initiative. Accompanying him were Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, Sridhar Babu, and other delegates.
A Major Milestone for Hyderabad
The upcoming data centre campus is designed with a capacity of up to 100 MW, making it one of India’s largest. This AI-ready infrastructure will enhance India’s digital and AI growth, as STT GDC India aims to achieve a 1GW design capacity across the country over the next decade, backed by a $3.2 billion investment.
Chief Minister Reddy expressed his enthusiasm about the project, stating, “Hyderabad will soon emerge as the capital of data centres. I congratulate STT GDC for their visionary decision.”
Minister Sridhar Babu called the development a testament to Telangana’s progressive policies and robust tech ecosystem, remarking that it’s a key milestone in the state’s digital journey.
International Collaboration and Investment Opportunities
During his Singapore visit, CM Reddy held discussions with Grace Fu Hai Yien, Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and Environment, on potential collaborations in areas like water management, urban planning, and semiconductors.
Additionally, Sridhar Babu hosted a roundtable with the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA), inviting global investors to capitalize on Telangana’s opportunities. Representatives from industry leaders like Applied Materials, GlobalFoundries, and Infineon Technologies participated in the talks.
Empowering Telangana’s Vision
This initiative is part of the state’s broader push for digital transformation, sustainability, and AI-led development. By fostering partnerships and investments, Telangana continues to position itself as a preferred destination for global technology ventures.
