The opposition INDIA bloc launched its Bihar election manifesto, titled ‘Tejashwi Pratigya Pran’, in Patna on Tuesday. The alliance, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, aims to challenge Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s rule in the upcoming assembly elections.
The event witnessed the presence of several key leaders, including RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, and CPI(ML) Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya.

Tejashwi Yadav has consistently emphasized job creation and development for youth, positioning himself as a change-driven leader ready to challenge the incumbent government’s record.
Bihar Elections to be Held in Two Phases
Bihar will vote in two phases — November 6 and November 11. The counting of votes will take place on November 14. These elections are crucial for the INDIA bloc, which hopes to regain power after Nitish Kumar’s four consecutive terms as chief minister.
The alliance has declared Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate and Mukesh Sahani, chief of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), as the deputy chief ministerial face.
Seat-Sharing & Internal Disputes
Despite a united front at the manifesto launch, the alliance has been struggling with internal rifts over seat-sharing. The RJD is contesting on 143 seats, Congress on 61, VIP on 15, Left parties on 33, and the Indian Inclusive Party on one seat.
However, there are reports of “friendly fights” in 10 seats, indicating overlapping candidates from alliance partners. This has highlighted the tensions within the bloc, which may impact their campaign strength in the final stretch before polling.
A total of 253 candidates have been fielded for 243 assembly seats, underscoring the public tussle for tickets among the INDIA bloc members.
Political Significance of the Manifesto
Political observers see the manifesto launch as an attempt to unite the opposition base and project a clear alternative to Nitish Kumar’s leadership. However, the ongoing seat disputes and infighting could undermine voter confidence if not resolved soon.
As Bihar heads toward polling, the INDIA bloc faces the dual challenge of managing internal unity and convincing voters that it can deliver on its promises.
