The victim, Anjali, was the youngest of five daughters of Sivalingam, a resident of Durgam village under Melmayil Panchayat. While her elder sisters were married, Anjali, 23, had recently completed her graduation.

On Wednesday afternoon around 2 p.m., Anjali went alone to the protected forest area to graze cows. When she did not return home by 3 p.m., her father, Sivalingam, went searching for her. Tragically, he discovered her lifeless body lying in a pool of blood.

Neighbors quickly gathered and alerted the forest department and the KV Kuppam police. Officials from both the forest department and police inspected the scene and began their investigations into the incident.
