Sultan of Oman Congratulates PM Modi On His Third Term Win

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a congratulatory phone call today from His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, the esteemed Sultan of Oman. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to Narendra Modi on his reappointment as the Prime Minister for a third consecutive term, following the recently concluded general elections, showcasing a blend of admiration and respect for the democratic process.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) also extended warm greetings to His Majesty and the people of Oman on the upcoming Eid Al Adha festival, expressing heartfelt wishes for a joyous and blessed celebration.

The two leaders reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to further deepen and strengthen the enduring India-Oman partnership, fostering mutual prosperity and benefiting the citizens of both countries.

India and Oman share diplomatic ties as the Republic of India maintains an embassy in Muscat, Oman. Notably, Oman holds the distinction of being the initial Gulf nation to establish official defense relations with India. This collaboration included joint military exercises in 2006, culminating in a defense agreement.

India and Oman share a strong partnership, with Oman being a key ally for India in various regional forums such as the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Arab League, and Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA). The two countries have deep connections through their geography, historical ties, and cultural affinities, fostering a relationship characterized by warmth and cordiality.
