The Strategic Forces Command (SFC), in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), conducted a successful test flight of the next-generation ballistic missile Agni-Prime from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha around 7 pm on Wednesday. The test achieved all trial objectives, confirming its reliable performance, as verified by data from various range sensors deployed at different locations, including two Downrange ships positioned at the terminal point.
The launch was witnessed by the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Strategic Forces Command, senior officials from DRDO, and the Indian Army. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised DRDO, SFC, and the Armed Forces for the successful ballistic missile test, noting that the development and deployment of the missile would significantly enhance the capabilities of the Armed Forces.
In June last year, DRDO conducted the first pre-induction night launch of the Agni Prime ballistic missile from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha, which was also successful.
