In a milestone for international art and cultural heritage, Spanish luxury porcelain house Lladró has launched a limited-edition Lord Ram Lalla sculpture, crafted alongside award-winning Indian sculptor Dr. Arun Yogiraj. The collaboration is Lladró’s first-ever with an Indian artist and commemorates the 25th anniversary of its Spirit of India collection. Just 499 pieces of this stunning High Porcelain masterpiece will be released globally.
Merging Spanish Artistry and Indian Spirituality
Dr. Arun Yogiraj, known for sculpting the Ram Lalla idol worshipped at Ayodhya, collaborated extensively with the artisans of Lladró in Valencia, Spain. It started from Mysuru with Yogiraj’s initial sketches and clay models of the innocence of Lord Ram as a five-year-old boy. They were then transformed into porcelain by Lladró’s house style of craftsmanship, merging Indian spirituality with Spanish savoir-faire of porcelain.
“Lladró approached me with a vision of combining Indian spiritual tradition and their craftsmanship. It was as if the values of patience, dedication, and meticulousness came naturally together,” said Yogiraj.
A Meeting of Traditions
According to Lladró, the joint venture was a result of respect for Yogiraj’s skill in bringing traditional iconography to life with realistic emotion. “The concept of bringing Mysuru’s centuries-long tradition of stone carving and uniting it with Lladró’s porcelain craftsmanship evolved naturally out of respect and common quest for perfection,” stated Nikhil Lamba, CEO of Lladró India.
The figurine itself demonstrates meticulous craftsmanship: more than 500 hand-painted porcelain flowers are part of the garland, each hand-painted and constructed before firing at high heat. The finished product is a radiant sculpture that combines respect, art, and cross-cultural imagination.
Celebrating Spirit of India’s 25 Years
The revelation of the Ram Lalla figurine also celebrates 25 years of Lladró’s Spirit of India collection, which started in 2001 with Lord Ganesha. The range has grown to be one of Lladró’s most popular lines over the years, with India now being the company’s third-largest international market.
“Portraying Lord Ram as Lalla enabled us to portray innocence and tranquility while remaining faithful to the sanctity of Indian tradition,” stated Nieves Contreras, Creative Director at Lladró. “Through our 25th anniversary, working with Dr. Yogiraj who sculpted the idol of Lord Ram Lalla in 2024 was the best way to celebrate our bond with India.”
Since India accounts for 38–43% of Lladró revenue through its Spirit of India line, this partnership is not symbolic but represents a trend toward genuine co-creation in the luxury art industry. For collectors, the limited-edition Ram Lalla figurine is not only art but a spiritual and cultural bridge across countries.
