Sitaram Yechury denies getting invitation to Bharat Jodo Yatra in UP

CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury denied getting an invitation from the Congress party to join Rahul Gandhi-led ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

“We have not received it,” Yechury said.

Meanwhile, Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid has earlier said that for joining the Yatra opposition parties will be invited to Uttar Pradesh.

“From today till 3 January, we will be waiting for Rahul’s visit. He has not come across UP during the stretch of his yatra. But we have planned about the three districts, he will cover soon,” Khurshid said.

Moreover, in Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra will cover Ghaziabad, Baghpat, and Shamli.

“Eleven thousand travelers will join the Yatra. Leaders of opposition leaders are also invited to join the march,” Khurshid said.

Earlier on 7 September Congress’ padayatra began and by next year it will cover 3,570 km. In the history of India Bharat Jodo Yatra is the longest march on foot which is done by any Indian politician.

However, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Haryana have been covered till now and it will end in Kashmir in 2023.
