Men pull her hair, drag her on street
One bystander who recorded the shocking incident on video showed how the girl was attacked on the perilous streets of the city. The footage captured a man pulling her hair and dragging her along the road, while the other man simply stood by the scene. When several women tried to intervene and stop the confrontation, this man forcibly pushed them away.
The incident took place on December 14. In the video, a man could be seen tugging at the girl’s hair, causing her to scream in pain. The reason behind the assault was not clear, but the girl told the media that they behaved inappropriately toward her and were trying to take her to their home for improper intentions.
Slapped, punched, and kicked
“They struck me and were acting inappropriately,” she mentioned in a video posted by NDTV. The clip illustrated that the girl was kicked, slapped, and punched by the two men while she fought against their vile actions.
Police action follows
As the video circulated online and gained attention, law enforcement became aware of the incident. The local police also examined CCTV footage from a nearby business that recorded the two men attacking this girl.
As per reports, Yadav and Nishad have been arrested by the UP police.
Kanpur news
In another case of assault in Kanpur this month, a young girl tragically lost her life on Saturday. A 17-year-old Dalit girl was sexually violated by an 18-year-old man who subsequently admitted to his wrongdoing. The victim’s body was discovered in an undressed state, alongside “sex enhancement drugs. ”
Meanwhile, a report from 2013 in the Times of India noted that Kanpur had “no safe passage for women in the city. ” Although more than a decade has passed since the report was published, these recent incidents highlight ongoing concerns about the safety of women in the region.
