Shivakumaraswamiji’s statue vandalised in Bengaluru, Culprit arrested

The Karnataka police have arrested a man in connection with the vandalism of a statue of a highly revered seer Dr Shivakumar Mahaswamiji in Bengaluru.

The incident occurred on November 30th night and the police arrested the accused identified as Shiva Krishna on December 4th. He is a native of Andhra Pradesh and a resident of Veerabhadranagar in Bengaluru, and a gig worker by profession.

According to the police, the accused is unable to tell the police as to why he did that. The police have taken him for medical examination to get an opinion of the doctors.

Meanwhile, a section of vernacular media reported Shiva Krishna had adopted Christianity and that Jesus had come in his dreams to tell him to vandalise the statue. However, the Deputy Commissioner of Police South Division, Lokesh said that the stated report did not corroborate with their ongoing investigation.

At present, Shiva Krishna is in judicial custody and the police are awaiting medical reports of the accused from the doctors.

BJP State President BY Vijayendra said it was an unforgivable crime that a miscreant had vandalised the statue of the prominent seer Shivakumara Mahaswamiji. The Karnataka government should not only arrest the culprit but also thoroughly investigate into the vested interest that is working on for carrying out such activities.

The Bengaluru Archbishop’s office also has reacted to the incident stating that it was an act condemnable. Christianity is a peace loving religion that respects and have regards for other religions and does not endorse with activities such as this. The Bishop’s office also requested the law enforcement authorities to contain such activities.
