Shinde Claims MNS Attack Was Retaliatory Response by Party Workers

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated that the attack on Uddhav Thackeray’s convoy by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers in Thane was a form of “retaliation” for a previous incident. He explained that MNS workers responded to the earlier attack on MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s car, where Uddhav Thackeray’s supporters had allegedly thrown betel nuts at Raj Thackeray’s vehicles during his visit to Beed district.

While Shinde condemned the attack on Thackeray’s convoy, he noted that such retaliatory actions were to be expected when provoked. He emphasized that such violence is not reflective of Maharashtra’s cultural values.

On Saturday in Thane, MNS workers threw coconuts and cow dung at Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray’s convoy, claiming it was in retaliation for the previous day’s attack on Raj Thackeray’s car with betel nuts and tomatoes.

Regarding the Ladli Behna Yojana, Shinde highlighted that the scheme, which provides Rs 1500 per month to women aged 21-65 with an annual income below Rs 2.5 lakh, has had a significant impact on opposition leaders. He assured that the scheme is permanent and will continue to benefit women.

Shinde also mentioned other initiatives for elderly women, including the “Vay Shree” scheme for women over 65 and a 50% concession on state roadway bus fares for women. He concluded by urging Maharashtra’s “Ladli Behnas” (beloved sisters) to be wary of opposition critics and asserted that the scheme’s financial benefits would make opposition leaders anxious.
