Shah, Gandhi to spar in Raipur before assembly elections

In a groundbreaking political manoeuvre, Amit Shah, India’s Central Home Minister, and Rahul Gandhi, former National President of the Congress party, are holding separate rallies in Raipur today, just 30 kilometres apart. This strategic alignment marks their first direct confrontation ahead of the looming assembly elections in Chhattisgarh.
Shah is slated to speak at the Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, where he will unveil a “charge sheet” against the incumbent Congress government. The document accuses Congress of various malpractices, including scams, poor handling of government schemes, and law and order issues.
Concurrently, Rahul Gandhi will engage with the youth in a dialogue program at New Raipur’s Mela Ground. Aimed at rallying youth support for Congress, this is Gandhi’s first official appearance under Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Dipak Baij.
Today’s visit is Shah’s fourth to Chhattisgarh in 70 days, showcasing the political urgency as the assembly elections draw near. The BJP has vested responsibility for the allegations document with a committee headed by Ajay Chandrakar.
Amit Shah’s packed itinerary includes a core committee meeting, tribal convention, and multiple departures and arrivals, underscoring his commitment to seize the electoral advantage in the state.
With both political titans laying out their respective battle plans, the Chhattisgarh assembly elections promise to be a hotly contested battlefield.
