Poonch, Oct 16: In a major development from the Dhana Shahsitar area of Mendhar in Surankot, Poonch district, security forces opened fire on suspected terrorists after their movements were spotted inside a forested area. The joint operation, comprising the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police, was initiated following specific intelligence inputs about terrorist activity in the region.
Sources within the forces revealed that the search operation was launched after reports of suspicious movement, which raised alarms about potential infiltration or an active terrorist presence. As troops combed through the dense forest, they encountered movements that were deemed hostile, prompting the soldiers to open fire.
The operation is ongoing, with security forces continuing their efforts to flush out any remaining terrorists hiding in the area. The objective is clear: to ensure that any threat is neutralized before it can materialize further.
