A terrorist was killed during an ongoing security operation in Bandipora’s Kaitsan area, with further actions underway, officials reported on Wednesday morning. The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps shared on X: “OP Kaitsan, Bandipora. One terrorist has been eliminated by the security forces in the ongoing operation. Operation is in progress.”
On Tuesday, based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in Kaitsan forest, the Indian Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police, and CRPF launched a joint operation in the Chuntawadi Kaitsan area of Bandipora. Contact was made with the terrorists, resulting in a firefight that is still in progress, according to the Chinar Corps’ updates on X.
In a related development on Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir police, along with 22RR and the CRPF’s 92 Battalion, arrested a suspected terrorist associate, Ashiq Hussain Wani, a resident of Tujar Shareef in Sopore, according to police sources.
This operation follows several recent incidents in the region. On November 3, twelve people, including a woman, were injured in a grenade attack at the Tourist Reception Centre and weekly market in Srinagar. On November 2, two terrorists were killed by security forces in an encounter in Anantnag district during an anti-terrorist operation in Halkan Gali. Earlier, on October 29, security forces neutralized three terrorists after an attack on an Army convoy in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, on October 20, terrorists attacked a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh highway in Ganderbal, killing a doctor and six construction workers.
