Second Earthquake in 2 Days Jolts Delhi-NCR, Epicentre in Jhajjar Again

Delhi-NCR experiences earthquake tremors for second consecutive day, with epicentre in Jhajjar, Haryana, says NCS.

Earthquake tremors were experienced in Delhi-NCR on Friday, July 11, for the second consecutive day, with the epicentre once more in Jhajjar, Haryana, as per the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

Magnitude 3.7 Earthquake Recorded by NCS

According to the NCS, the Magnitude 3.7 earthquake hit Jhajjar at 7:49 pm on Friday.

“EQ of M: 3.7, On: 11/07/2025 19:49:43 IST, Lat: 28.68 N, Long: 76.72 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Jhajjar, Haryana,” NCS said in a post on X.

Delhi, Gurugram residents quickly flooded social media, posting that they experienced the tremors.

Earthquake of Magnitude 4.4 Struck Delhi-NCR on Thursday

On Thursday, there was an earthquake of Magnitude 4.4 at a location close to Jhajjar in Haryana on Thursday morning, causing tremors in the Delhi-NCR area.

The epicentre was three kilometres above northeast Jhajjar and 51 km west of the capital city of Delhi. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km at 9.04 am, according to the National Centre for Seismology.

Apart from Jhajjar, the severe shocks on Thursday were experienced in surrounding Rohtak and Gurugram districts, Panipat, Hisar, Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad Noida and Meerut too.

Similar Earthquake Occurred in February 2024

A similar 4.0 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale struck Delhi-NCR on February 17 at a depth of five kilometres km, as per the NCS.

The intense shakes occurred at 5:36 am on February 17. The unexpected jolts forced people to run out of their houses in a state of panic.

“Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.0, Occurred on 17-02-24, 5:36 AM IST, Lat: 28.59°N & Long: 77.16°E, Depth: 5 Km, Location: 9 km E of New Delhi,” NCS had posted on X.

Delhi is classified under Seismic Zone IV, which is a “High Damage Risk Zone” and indicates a high potential for earthquakes of moderate to high intensity.
